Until tomorrow, that is
Sheesh. Travel karma is still doing the hard work.
The Madrid airport is very pleasant, but after a half day was a little less than comfortable. But they had precious delicious ham and so I’m not gonna complain.
Eventually made the flight to Milano, then had to find my way to Torino. I was directed to two different bus lines but was stymied in finding them.
Google and Apple tag teamed on the maps and directions to the Metro, then to a regional train, and then midstream suggested I change routes.
I know from using Waze GPS that there are no shortcuts. But I trusted the Interwebs.
I should not have done that.
Got off that train and found myself facing a ticket machine that insisted there were NO trains to Turino. At this point I realized there are at least three or four different train lines, all with different ticket machines. (I’m sure that will all eventually make sense.) Found the one with trains to Turino, and that one pleasantly directed me back to the train I left earlier.
Now I’ve lost time and I’m cutting it awfully close to catch the cross country train to Turino. And just to prove its point, the train I’m on is running late. Luckily the CC train was even later - luckier still it switched platforms, so we all got to run down the stairs and up different stairs. And then wait some more.
I will arrive in Turino around 11, and then get picked up for a short ride to the AirBnB rented by a friend for Terra Madre.
I’m not sure how to score this travel extravaganza. I left St. Louis at 11am Sunday, so that’s 54 hours (I think, with the time difference). But much of that was just in airports, and I stayed overnight in Charlotte. Anyway, it’s a lot.
But I made it.
Tomorrow morning I go to Bra.
I'm exhausted reading your travel extravaganza :)
That’s most definitely an adventure!
