Blessedly, my trip back to Bra was uneventful. Two planes, two shuttle buses, a regular bus, a train, and then a walk wheeling my luggage behind.
And even better, I have electricity and hot water!

A hot shower is in order, then unpacking and turning this apartment into a home, then finding the grocery, solving the coffee equation, and then dinner.
I got to the apartment just as Giovanni Landlord was getting ready to go to work (which is how I learned he is a tennis instructor). He showed me all the light switches, how the heat (hot water radiator) works, that the hot water works, and again with the recycling bags.
He also was greatly concerned that I overpaid him for rent. I use Wise to transfer money with a fraction of the fees from a bank, and when I initiated his October rent payment I didn’t press the last button, so the transaction hung for a couple of days until he inquired about it. And at that point the exchange changed and I sent him €6 extra, which he insisted on paying back to me in cash right away.
But wait, there’s more. He had this lying around, just waiting for me:
I have an oven! And it looks like I can cook a whole chicken, and the front part of a cow. But that might be a language issue.
Last, but absolutely not least, there was one item I left in the apartment that I was very glad to see went I got back - some wine!
Ciao!
