First, thank you. I have over 100 subscribers to this newsletter, which means 100+ people want to read what I’m writing. I appreciate that, and it really does inspire and motivate me to write. Thank you!
If you haven’t subscribed, please do. Click this Button, enter your email, decline everything else (you don’t need the app, or to subscribe to anything else, and you don’t need to upgrade to paid unless you really want to), and you’ll get my posts by email as soon as I publish them.
I leave the day after tomorrow.
Am I packed? Not completely, but I’ve been checking things off several lists I’ve made, and sorting things into piles. I will have one checked bag, one roller carry-on (which might be flagged to either gate check from STL to ATL, or check all the way to Milan), and a duffle bag that will never leave my side — and I need to make sure I have all the right stuff stuffed in the right bags, just in case, right?
I’m also checking off lists of things I need to do before I leave. Today I have several deliveries, things that need ordering, things that need fixing, and I need to go vote (in St. Louis you can vote absentee downtown with proper ID and no excuses, plus early voting starts two weeks before election day, so please get it done).
Meanwhile, as I’m getting ready, I’d love to hear what you’re wondering, what questions you have, what things you want to hear more about as I embark on this adventure. Substack thoughtfully added a Button for just such an occasion.
I think all you need to do is press that button, and you’ll be able to, well, leave a comment, or question, query, request. You might want to know about my coffee situation, or you’re looking forward to hearing about my classmates or instructors, or what the Wine Bank in the basement of the school is all about. I’ll be able to post replies to your comments.
Or, you can press this Button and send me a private message. I can reply directly to you from there.
(I also just turned on Referrals, so you can get access to paid-member posts by telling more people about this newsletter. I will find out more about how that works and report back.)
I will greatly appreciate your comments and messages. It’s an adventure, to be sure, but I will be far away for a long time from friends and many familiar things, so please let’s stay connected!
I look forward to hearing from you. Grazie!

Safe travels Brian. Jay and I want to know about the coffee as well. Enjoy your schooling and travels. Can't wait to read more when you write again. We'd like to know what you are learning, what you are eating and what you are drinking besides coffee.
Hope you have smooth travels back across the pond!
